What is Emotional Freedom Technique?

Emotional Freedom Techniques, also known as EFT Tapping or just Tapping, is a simple non-intrusive and easy-to-learn therapy and is based on the most recent discoveries in the field of Energy Therapy. EFT essentially address emotional issues by using the fingers to tap on meridian points in the body – it has been shown to work even where other interventions have failed.

How Does it Work?

To understand how EFT works it’s useful to understand that the body has an electro-magnetic system, which delivers messages to all parts of the body. Medicine uses EEG’s and ECG’s to measure this electrical activity.

Emotional Freedom Techniques, to give it its full title, is based on the body’s natural energy system, a system that has been known in the East for over five thousand years. Also known as Chi or Prana the redressing of this life force is the basis of their holistic approach to medicine.

The process of tapping the meridian energy points while focusing upon specific statements allows for release of emotional blocks to physical, emotional and performance issues, and in many cases the results have been extraordinary and impressive.

EFT Tapping involves tapping upon acupressure meridian points while focusing upon and verbally acknowledging the issue to be resolved. At first it can seem a strange thing to do but its effectiveness soon outweighs any initial oddity or doubts.

The EFT Foundation Statement says that, “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy field”.

It therefore follows that realignment of a disruption in the body’s energy field eliminates the negative emotion and results in the elimination of the physical symptom.

The Link Between Emotions and Physical Conditions

It is now widely understood that there is a powerful link between emotions and dis-ease and EFT addresses the emotional contributor that lies behind the physical symptom.

Stress is one such condition that has many potential physical symptoms ranging from dizziness to high blood pressure. In today’s fast-paced world many people experience the stresses of daily life at levels that are greater than is good for them.

Emotions such as anger, fear, grief and sadness when frequently experienced all contribute to life's stresses and EFT Tapping is especially effective for calming an over-stressed system and at the same time resolving the underlying emotional contributor.

We often reach for medications to alleviate such conditions but in most cases they are only a temporary fix masking a deeper underlying cause. EFT zero's in on the underlying emotion in a non-invasive way to clear away otherwise intense emotional issues and sometimes they are cleared within minutes! Once the emotional intensity is released, any physical condition related to it very often responds positively.
